Agena Space Leverages Aerospacelab’s Advanced Satellite Capabilities to Demonstrate its Innovative Propulsion

The advanced capabilities of the satellites and platforms deployed by Aerospacelab were selected by the French start-up, Agena Space, to demonstrate their innovative propulsion.

Mountain View, CA, February 5, 2024 – Agena Space announces its collaboration with Aerospacelab to demonstrate the flight readiness and capabilities of its Rocket Pack™ green propulsion system, which will be integrated into Aerospacelab’s renowned Versatile Satellite Platform, VSP-150. The launch aboard the Falcon 9 Transporter 17 is scheduled for May 2026.

The Rocket Pack™ green propulsion system, a monopropellant version of the propulsion system, enabling rapid and effective maneuvers essential for various in-orbit civilian and military applications, including rapid collision avoidance with space debris, will be installed on Aerospacelab’s VSP-150, a 150kg Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite platform.

Benoit Deper, CEO of Aerospacelab, stated that “Agena Space’s confidence in our VSP150 highlights the reliability and efficiency of our platform, which has already successfully supported six deployed satellites. By leveraging Aerospacelab’s manufacturing expertise, Agena Space aims to enhance future in-orbit applications, offering unparalleled mobility in space with their Rocket Pack™. This is truly an exciting development!”

Pierre-Guy Amand, CEO of Agena Space declared: “We are very proud to team up with Aerospacelab to demonstrate the capabilities of Rocket Pack™, our green liquid propulsion system using Hydrogen Peroxide. This demonstration will serve to validate the quality of our developments done in a record 2 years, as well as enable the in-orbit demonstration of the extraordinary capabilities of Rocket Pack™ on Aerospacelab’s state-of-the-art LEO satellite platform, as a first step in the rollout of our product portfolio.”
