Internship Design and Manufacturing of GSE (Ground Support Equipment) for an Orbital Propulsion System

This project involves designing and manufacturing GSE to support an orbital propulsion system. The system aims to streamline testing, integration, and fueling operations for the propulsion system. The goal is to consolidate all the necessary equipment and circuits required for these tests into a mobile workstation (a portable case) that can accompany the propulsion system throughout its various lifecycle phases.

Agena Space already has its own testing facilities, currently designed for testing individual engines. We now wish to equip ourselves with a control, support, and power supply system (electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic) for our orbital propulsion system.

This internship will oversee all phases of product development: definition, technical specifications, design, manufacturing, and testing.

Main Responsibilities

  • Contribute to defining the project’s specifications.
  • Design the CAD model of the mobile workstation.
  • Develop electrical and fluidic schematics.
  • Establish communication protocols between computers and the propulsion system.
  • Assist in procurement management and budgeting for the project.
  • Define validation tests and associated testing methods.

Must have

  • CAD design and mechanical manufacturing
  • Fluidics
  • Electrotechnics / Electronics
  • Systems engineering
  • Experimentation
  • Reading and designing technical drawings

Nice to have

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to consider our customer’s integration constraints.
  • A strong willingness to be part of an execution-first and results-oriented team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Enjoy explaining what you do.
